Andy Reid stopped Travis Kelce from getting his helmet back after he furiously chucked it on the sidelines

The first half of Monday’s matchup between the Chiefs and Raiders was especially frustrating for Kansas City. The Raiders scored defensive touchdowns on back-to-back drives, and the Chiefs really couldn’t move the ball at all.

So, when the Chiefs lined up to punt in the second quarter after those two Raiders scores, Travis Kelce was absolutely livid. He returned to the sidelines and chucked his helmet against the bench. Little did he know, though, that the Chiefs were about to convert on a fake punt.

On fourth down, punter Tommy Townsend threw a shocking pass to Justin Watson — who made an incredible effort to bring the ball in — and the Chiefs earned a fresh set of downs.

But after that tantrum from Kelce, head coach Andy Reid wasn’t about to let the star tight end go right back into the game. Cameras captured footage of Reid intervening when a staffer tried to return the helmet to Kelce. Reid made a point to speak to Kelce about the helmet throw.

Kelce knew right away that he messed up. And after Patrick Mahomes’ meltdown during the Bills game, it’s just something that Reid can’t have happening with his star players.
