Andy Cruz stops Jovanni Straffon in third round

Andy Cruz dominated Jovanni Straffon on Saturday, December 9 at Chase Center in San Francisco. The bout was featured on the card headlined by Regis Prograis’ WBC super lightweight title defense against Devin Haney.

Cuban 2020 Olympic gold medalist defeated Mexican southpaw via TKO. Referee Edward Collantes stepped in and waved the fight off at 53 seconds into the third round.

With the victory, Miami-based 28-year-old Andy Cruz improved to 2-0, 1 KOs, retained his IBF International lightweight title and landed the WBA Continental Latin American belt. Mexico City’s 30-year-old Jovanni Straffon dropped to 26-6-1, 19 KOs.

In the UK and Australia, the event aired live on Sunday, December 10.
