Andretti Autosport has signed three-time W Series Champion Jamie Chadwick to pilot the No. 28 car for the 2023 Indy NXT by Firestone season. She will be the first woman to compete full-time in the series — most recently known as Indy Lights — in 13 years. DHL will serve as primary sponsor of Chadwick’s car, a relationship that dates to 2010, according to a news release.

“My aim is always to challenge myself and continue my progression as a driver and thisrepresents not only a big step up but also a big step toward my goal of competing in the highestcategories of single-seater racing,” Chadwick said of joining IndyCar’s top developmental circuit.

Chadwick will debut in the Indy NXT season opener from March 3-5 on the Streets of St. Petersburg. Andretti’s Indy NXT team also includes Hunter McElrea (No. 27) and Louis Foster (No. 26). Chadwick is Andretti’s second full-time woman driver, joining Catie Munnings, who competes for Andretti United Extreme E.

The British driver joined the W Series in its inaugural season in 2019, winning two races and earning three podiums to claim the championship. She added the 2021 and 2022 titles and was named a Formula 1 Reserve Driver for Williams Racing. Chadwick will remain part of the Williams Racing Driver Academy in 2023 with anenhanced role to be announced, according to the news release.

“Jamie’s successful career speaks for itself, but Indy NXT gives Jamie the opportunity to continue her development in a new type of racing,” Michael Andretti, CEO and chairman of Andretti Autosport, said. “We’ve turned out five Indy NXT champions over the years and look forward to continuing our role in developing new talent.”
