Andre Onana’s error gave Brentford the lead

Manchester United keeper Andre Onana is again under fire after Mathias Jensen gave Brentford the lead at Old Trafford.

Jensen’s less than unstoppable effort crept in after the Cameroon international failed to get a strong hand to it, giving the Bees a first half lead. And on Sky Sports, pundit Kris Boyd didn’t hold back.

“He just stabs it past Onana in the box,” he said. “It breaks to Mathias Jensen and he just passes it under Onana into the goal. Seeing it again, he’s got to save it. Brentford won’t care. Bad goalkeeping once again. The booing has already started.”

And fans of the Red Devils were equally scathing, with one saying: “Feels like we just swapped De Gea’s weakness for Onana’s. De Gea is good at shot stopping while Onana at ball playing. But the most fundamental essential of goalkeeping will remain shot stopping any time, any day.”

Another added: “Onana is horrible holy s*** he can’t save anything. Man United need De Gea back asap he could’ve save that shot easily.” A third tweeted: “De gea, pls come back, we are sorry, and a fourth said: “He is genuinely the worst keeper I have ever seen. De Gea is miles clear miles, I said this from day 1.”

The ex-Inter Milan stopper was already under pressure after his erratic display against Galatasaray in midweek. And his latest mishap will only increase calls for Ten Hag to give a chance to new Turkish keeper Altay Bayindir, who also signed in the summer from Fenerbahce.
