ANDRE Braugher’s Brooklyn 99 co-stars Terry Crews and Marc Evan Jackson paid tribute after his death at 61.
The Hollywood star died earlier this week following a short illness.

Shortly after the announcement, those who previously collaborated with the star expressed their condolences and paid tribute.
Andre featured in numerous films alongside notable titles such as Homicide: Life on the Street and hit comedy show Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Terry Crews, who played Terry Jeffords in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, wrote: “Can’t believe you’re gone so soon.
“I’m honoured to have known you, laughed with you, worked with you and shared 8 glorious years watching your irreplaceable talent.
“This hurts. You left us too soon. You taught me so much. I will be forever grateful for the experience of knowing you.”
Marc Evan Jackson added on X/Twitter: “O Captain. My Captain.”
Marc played Andre’s husband in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s executive producers told Deadline: “Like everyone who was fortunate enough to know Andre, we are heartbroken by the news of his passing.”
“He was one of the most talented dramatic actors in history, and then he decided to try comedy, and he was instantly one of the funniest people ever to do it.
“But even greater than his acting talent was the happiness and joy he brought to those around him. And his smile… he had the greatest, brightest, most wonderful smile.”
Joe Lo Truglio, who played Charles Boyle in Brooklyn Nine-Nine wrote on Instagram: “So many wonderful stories will be told about Andre but for now, all my love goes to his wife Ami and his three boys, who he loved very much and flew back every weekend from the show to be with.
“We all know how powerful an actor he was, but even more, Andre knew exactly well his most important role and was deeply proud of it.”
Andre’s publicist confirmed his death to Variety but details about the illness he suffered weren’t made available.
Andre reached a new younger audience with his portrayal of Captain Holt on the popular series Brooklyn Nine-Nine, a role that landed him four Emmy Award nominations.
The beloved actor was already a recognisable name thanks to his work on the NBC drama Homicide: Life on the Street, where he played Detective Frank Pembleton from 1992 to 1998.
He won an Emmy for his work on the show and the well-known series is also where he met his wife, fellow actress Ami Brabson.
