America agrees: Patriots’ revolutionary field goal block was quite awesome
Patriots #Patriots
Bill Belichick came into Sunday night’s game against the Miami Dolphins knowing full well that he’d have to deal with Miami head coach Mike McDaniel’s genius with pre-snap motion. Not an easy thing for any defense. Belichick being Belichick, though… well, you won’t be surprised to know that he had something else up his sleeve in a motion sense, and he was waiting to unleash it against these very Dolphins.
So, with 3:39 left in the third quarter, and Miami kicker Jason Sanders ready to attempt a 49-yard field goal, Belichick unleashed his latest schematic sleight of hand. Defensive back Brendan Schooler started wide off the formation, and then zoomed in to block the kick like he was Tyreek Hill or Jaylen Waddle killing a defense with speed motion.
This isn’t something we’ve ever seen before, but we — like most of America — were quite impressed.
