Alan Shearer has sympathy for Ten Hag due to Manchester United ownership uncertainty | OneFootball

Former England international turned Match of the Day pundit, Alan Shearer, has admitted that he has sympathy for Erik ten Hag when it comes to the uncertainty over Manchester United’s ownership.

Manchester United’s season went from bad to worse on Saturday when Brighton came to Old Trafford and won 3-1. If anything, it’s another bad result that adds to a cloud of negativity that overshadows the club.

We’ve got Antony away on leave due to domestic abuse allegations, Jadon Sancho refusing to apologise to the manager, and owners who never cared for the football club.

Ten Hag’s decision on Saturday to take off Rasmus Hojlund was met with boos from some United fans, but the manager dismissed this as a positive for the young Danish striker.

However, with Ten Hag being criticised by sections of social media tonight, Shearer has stressed that the United boss needs to know or not the club is for sale.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Shearer said (via Daily Mail): “I do have a little bit of sympathy with Ten Hag with all the serious external issues. Everything eventually filters down on the pitch, it is for sale or not for sale. He needs to know what is going on, the fans need to know.”

It’s no secret that the uncertainty is a hindrance, just like the toxic environment at the club due to the Glazers’ existence.

The Glazer family announced in November last year that they will consider selling the club but ten months later a sale has yet to materialise despite bids from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani.
