Aging Oilers blueliner Duncan Keith blamed for 5-4 overtime loss to the Kings in Game 5

Twitter is not very kind when you’re 38 years old and some young whippersnapper skates by you to score the winning goal in overtime. Especially in the playoffs.
So it goes this morning for Duncan Keith.
He’s a three-time Stanley Cup–winning blueliner acquired by the Oilers last summer. When he was traded to Edmonton, Keith had two years left on his 13-year $72-million contract.
The aforementioned whippersnapper was Adrian Kempe, a 25-year-old centre for the Los Angeles Kings.
He raced by Keith last night to beat 40-year-old Edmonton netminder Mike Smith.
It gave the Kings a 5-4 victory in Game 5 and a 3-2 lead in the Round 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

All of this will no doubt delight fans of the Vancouver Canucks, who missed the playoffs. They’ve not had much to cheer for in the postseason.
Serious Canucks fans will never forget his cheap shot against their beloved Daniel Sedin in the neutral zone on March 21, 2012.
Sedin didn’t have the puck at the time and for that, Keith received a mere two-minute minor.
The Canucks sniper, on the other hand, missed the rest of the season and the first three games of the playoffs.
That may started the Canucks’ long-term slide into ignominy, which was only reversed this year with the hiring of head coach Bruce Boudreau.
