After reports of an alligator being spotted in Brampton, investigators conclude it was a beaver
Brampton
Peel police say it was a beaver that was spotted crawling around a storm drainage pond near Creditview and James Potter Roads in Brampton late Friday night – not an alligator.
Police responded to calls around 8:30 p.m. that a few people saw an alligator swimming in a drainage pond within Damatta Park in Brampton.
Const. Akhil Menon said people reported a “five-to-six foot gator in the drainage pond in the area.”
Accompanied by animal control officials, police officers checked the area.
After videos of the creature surfaced on social media, the animal was determined to be a beaver and not an alligator.
