Afghanistan reports 82 new COVID-19 cases

KABUL, April 11 (Xinhua) — A total of 82 new COVID-19 cases were registered in Afghanistan over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of the cases in the country to 57,242, the Public Health Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

The statement said that eight patients died over the period, bringing the number of COVID-19 related deaths to 2,529 since the outbreak of the disease in February 2020 in the country.

A total of 27 patients recovered over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of recovered ones to 51,989 in the country.

The Public Health Ministry also warned of spread of the third wave of the disease, urging Afghan citizens to follow the guidelines of the ministry and avoid unnecessary visit to markets and crowded areas.
