Ex-WWE superstar Lio Rush made his AEW debut in the Casino Battle Royale at Double or Nothing.

The 25-year-old wrestler – who can usually be seen tearing it up for the likes of GCW, MLW and New Japan Pro Wrestling – made an unexpected appearance during signature bout as the surprise Joker entrant.

Rush was on fire as he showed off his athleticism and explosive talent before getting eliminated by Matt Hardy, while Jungle Boy went onto win the bout as he eliminated Christian Cage to earn himself a future world title shot.

Later on, he tweeted: ‘Rarely am i speechless, but damn did this feel good. The Man Of The Hour is here! #AEWDoN #AEW #LioRush (sic)’

It’s not clear whether or not he’ll be sticking around before this night, but he’d be a worthy addition to the roster if AEW could find space for him.

The likes of now-NXT Women’s Champion Mercedes Martinez, Matt Sydal and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page have all been Jokers in the past, so he’s in great company.

Fans would certainly love to see him stick around, with plenty of viewers taking to Twitter to show their support.

One fan tweeted: ‘Lio Rush is a damn good pickup for AEW if he is signed.’

Another added: ‘Lio Rush is a sneaky good signing by AEW’.

And a different viewer wrote: ‘Very happy for Lio rush, I was a big fan of his, let’s hope they know what to do with them. #aew’

On the show, things kicked off strong with Hangman Page himself beating Brian Cage in a strong opener.

The Young Bucks retained the AEW World Tag Team Titles in a great match against Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston, and Cody Rhodes beat Anthony Ogogo after the battle royale.

Over in the TNT Title picture, Miro built some much-needed early momentum in his reign as he convincingly beat Lance Archer to retain the gold.

Elsewhere on the stacked show, Hikaru Shida is defending her championship against Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., while Kenny Omega faces PAC and Orange Cassidy with the world title on the line.

Sting will team with Darby Allin in his first live match in six years against Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page, and The Inner Circle could be forced to split up if they lose to The Pinnacle in Stadium Stampede.
