Additional heavy rainfall and thunderstorms for Thursday

Good Thursday #GoodThursday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Good Thursday morning. We have a pretty tough morning commute to work and school today with areas of very dense fog and scattered rain showers.

A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for most counties through 9:00 AM CST, visibility will likely be less than one-quarter of a mile in spots. Light to moderate scattered showers will continue through late morning. By the early afternoon, another round of heavier rainfall and some embedded thunderstorms will make their way across the Tennessee Valley. An additional one to two inches of rainfall are possible today leading to a concern of flooding. Skies will stay cloudy today with highs reaching the middle 60s thanks to a breezy south wind.

Rain showers will gradually taper off overnight into Friday morning, lows will be mild in the middle 50s. More fog can be expected Friday morning for your drive to work and school. Friday looks to be mainly cloudy to overcast with highs in the lower 60s. A light northeasterly breeze is expected through the day with some periodic light rain showers.

We have the 48 First Alert out for Saturday as another storm system will bring additional heavy rainfall and possibly some stronger thunderstorms to the area. Right now, the timeframe for stronger storms looks to be during the earlier morning hours… check back for the latest. Temperatures will start off in the 40s on Sunday and will quickly fall through the day, skies will be mainly cloudy to overcast with a breezy northwest wind.

Next week is going to start off cooler but dry with seasonal highs in the upper 40s to middle 50s.
