Aaron Rodgers announces engagement during MVP acceptance
Aaron Rodgers #AaronRodgers
© Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports This one would be spicy. It is rare to see a trade within the division, especially during the season and of a star player, but since we are outlining the best possible landing spots for Robinson, imagine pairing him with Aaron Rodgers, another future Hall of Fame quarterback. This past offseason the Green Bay Packers were expected to address wide receiver, but instead opted to draft at other positions, including the potential replacement for their star quarterback. That saw them enter Week 1 with Davante Adams at one WR spot, and the rest of the spots in the receiver room a bit of a question mark. Marquez Valdes-Scantling had a solid camp according to reports, and did catch four passes for 96 yards and a touchdown this past Sunday. Allen Lazard also caught four passes for 38 yards and a touchdown of his own. But Robinson gives the Packers potentially two receivers in him and Adams that command bracket coverages, if not straight double-teams. The story of the Packers this offseason, after the draft they had, was that Green Bay’s offense would look a lot like San Francisco’s, with a big dose of play-action and a lot of 21 personnel. Now maybe that was a bit of smoke from head coach Matt LaFleur given how they opened the season, but if they are moving in that direction, a 21 personnel package with Robinson and Adams at the WR spots is very tantalizing. Robinson could operate underneath, similar to how he was used by the Bears, with the occasional vertical routes spliced in, while creating space for Adams on some of the deeper routes that Rodgers loves to find him on. This could really work.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers won’t get the ring as a Super Bowl winner this season. However, did give a ring to someone, announcing his engagement Saturday during the acceptance speech for his AP MVP award.
The Packers’ quarterback was voted NFL MVP for the third time after a season that saw him throw for 4,299 yards with 48 touchdowns against five interceptions.
The Packers won the NFC North but were eliminated by Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In his speech, Rodgers discusses the oddity that was 2020 — “180 straight days of having my nose hairs scraped” — and then casually says “I got engaged.”
He mentions some of the special people in his life — including “my fiancee.” Rodgers didn’t say who it is but the speculation is it’s 29-year-old Shailene Woodley.
She is an actress from “Big Little Lies” Rodgers has been said to be dating since his breakup with racecar driver Danica Patrick.
