Elon Musk Twitter appointed executive Ella Irwin as head of trust and safety after her predecessor Yoel Roth quit last week, The Information reported on Thursday.

Irwin initially joined as a vice president of product for health and Twitter services in June this year when current CEO Elon Musk was planning to acquire the social media firm for $44 billion, according to her LinkedIn.

Bloomberg reported that Irwin had previously left Twitter during the initial days of Musk’s tenure, but was asked to return amid surging resignations.

Her move to the security team came as less than half of Twitter’s almost 4,000 remaining employees signed up to stay at “Twitter 2.0,” on Thursday. Musk issued an ultimatum to staff on Wednesday to either commit to the company’s new “extremely hardcore” culture and click a signup link by Thursday 5 p.m. ET, or they will be considered to be a part of a voluntary layoff and receive three months of severance.

So few people signed up that Musk and other company leaders called up workers on Thursday who were considered “critical” to Twitter’s future to convince them to stay. Musk even brought back some leaders who were laid off or had resigned, to help convince others to stay at the company, including Irwin, Bloomberg said.

Irwin and Twitter did not respond to Insider’s request for comment about her appointment to the position.

Roth, Twitter’s former head of trust and safety, resigned on November 10. The senior executive had survived Musk’s initial round of layoffs affecting around 50% of the company and was a public face reassuring users and advertisers about the social media firms’ content moderation efforts. Roth tweeted on November 4, for example, that “election integrity” was still a “top priority,” for Twitter.

Other members of Twitter’s privacy and security unit have also departed including its chief information security officer Lea Kissner, its chief privacy officer, and its chief compliance officer.
