A friend writes: Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon is one of the most charming characters I have ever met. She was among the group of young girls who followed Princess Mary to the altar, and even then it was rumoured that she might, at a future date, stand in nearer relationship to the Royal bride.

Everyone who knows her well feels that she is eminently suited to the position. Her life has been an extremely happy one, although she suffered the loss of a much-loved brother in the war.
