A Garth Brooks concert was so loud it registered as an earthquake

Country singer Garth Brooks played in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the first time in 24 years on April 30, according to the Washington Post. Brooks played a sold out show at Louisiana State University’s Tiger Stadium, playing in front of 102,000 fans, according to The Advocate.

When Brooks played “Callin’ Baton Rouge,” the resulting fanfare registered as an earthquake on LSU’s seismograph machine, the Post reported. LSU Sports Chief Brand Officer Cody Worsham posted a photo on Twitter of how the song registered on the scales.

Prior to the concert, one Twitter user asked if LSU would be running its seismograph during Brooks’ concert, to which the university responded, “Actually… yes.”

Brooks posted a video on Twitter from the concert from when he was performing Callin’ Baton Rouge. The song is played by LSU before all home football and baseball games, according to FanBuzz. Brooks called the performance the “Garthquake.”
