A deflated Aaron Rodgers told Justin Jefferson he’s the ‘best player in the game’ during postgame chat
Rodgers #Rodgers
Following Davante Adams’ move to the Raiders, it was always going to be frustrating for Aaron Rodgers to lead an offense without a true No. 1 weapon at wide receiver. That frustration from Rodgers was only made worse by watching Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson put on a show during Sunday’s Week 1 matchup.
The Vikings opened the season with a convincing 23-7 win over the Packers. And on top making Rodgers look awfully ordinary, the Vikings gave the Green Bay defense a steady diet of passes to Jefferson, and the Packers could do nothing to stop him.
After Jefferson finished his day with nine receptions for 184 yards and two touchdowns, you could almost sense the envy from Rodgers as the two met at midfield for their postgame chat.
Rodgers told Jefferson that the receiver is the best player in the game today, which was nice of Rodgers, sure. But at the same time, he just watched his own receivers drop touchdown passes and run the wrong route all afternoon.
Rodgers looked miserable for much of the game, and even in paying a compliment to Jefferson, he seemed deflated just knowing who is in his locker room.
NFL fans certainly sensed that saltiness from the postgame chat.
It’s still early, but this could be a long season in Green Bay if Rodgers can’t find a receiver to step up to the task.
