On their first episode as regular DJs of “Idol Radio,” DAY6’s Young K and GOT7’s Youngjae got cheered on by their group members!
DAY6’s Wonpil and Dowoon and GOT7’s Jinyoung and BamBam joined the duo for their May 18 episode as a “congratulations delegation.” The popular MBC radio show has been hosted by special DJs for about eight months following the departure of former DJ BTOB’s Ilhoon.
The new DJs shared their thoughts on taking over the radio show. Youngjae shared that he was feeling nervous and said, “It still doesn’t seem real. I still feel like I’m just a special DJ.”
Jinyoung shared, “Youngjae’s kept saying for seven years since we debuted that he wants to be a DJ, and now his dream has come true.”
When asked if he’s really close friends with Youngjae, Young K replied, “We’re getting closer.”
To celebrate their first episode, Youngjae and Young K sung live for listeners. Young K sang Ruel’s “Face to Face” while Youngjae performed a cover of Paul Kim’s “Every Day, Every Moment.”
As labelmates at JYP Entertainment, the two DJs and their guests shared some memories from training together.
BamBam said, “At the dorm, when Young K finished working out he’d walk around with his shirt off.” Youngjae shared, “I’m younger than Dowoon, but I remember one day he surprised me by calling me ‘Hyungnim.’” The term is a formal way for a man to address an older brother or friend.
With the guys having fun sharing stories of their past, Young K suddenly performed some choreography he’d learned during his trainee days. The routine is famously used at JYP Entertainment to teach trainees basic dance moves.
Youngjae, Jinyoung, BamBam, Wonpil, and Young K then got up and all performed the routine!
As they finished off the fun first episode, BamBam said, “I’m happy that the two DJs’ dreams have come true. Please keep giving Youngjae and Young K a lot of love.”
Wonpil also said, “I hope that Youngjae and Young K will be remembered as the representative DJs of ‘Idol Radio’ for a long, long time.”
“Idol Radio” is broadcast on air every day from 1 to 2 a.m. KST, and it can also be watched (excluding weekends) as a viewable radio show before then from 9 to 10 p.m. KST on Naver’s V Live.
