All about Michelle Young, a new ‘Bachelorette’ from Matt James’ season

“Bachelor” contestant Michelle Young, who made it to the finale in the 2021 competition for Matt James’ heart, is set to become one of the next stars of “The Bachelorette.”

During Monday’s “After the Final Rose” special, it was revealed that both Young, a 28-year-old teacher from Minnesota, and Katie Thurston, a 30-year-old bank marketing manager from Washington state, will be looking for love on separate seasons of the dating competition show.

Thurston’s Season 17 of the show is set to air on ABC this summer while Young’s Season 18 will air this fall.

With Young’s return to ABC in the works, all hope for love is not lost, despite not ending up with James.

Here’s everything to know about Young.

She hails from Minnesota

Young was born in St. Louis Park, Minnesota to LaVonne and Ephraim Young. She grew up there with her two siblings, Angela and Alex.

Family is extremely important to Young, and she is ready to start her own family, her “Bachelor” bio states.

Young works as an elementary school teacher when she’s not on reality TV.

According to her ABC bio, the “Bachelor” contestant “focuses on preparing her students to be the next generation of community leaders.”

She even had her students video-call James on “The Bachelor” to grill him about his intentions.

Young admits, however, that she is an “over-worker” and joined the franchise so she could find love.

She used to be a basketball star

Young was a college athlete (like James, who played football for Wake Forest University) before starting her career as a teacher.

She played Division 1 basketball at Bradley University.

During her time on the team, she was given several athletic accolades and also made the honor roll, according to the roster.

She’s a major foodie

Some of Young’s favorite activities involve food.

“When Michelle’s not working, she loves to spend time with friends hiking and wine tasting,” her bio states. “She is very adventurous in life and in appetite; she says that all of her favorite restaurants are local food trucks.”

Young is passionate about giving back to the community — and she’s looking for a beau who feels the same way.

“Michelle has big dreams for the future and says she wants a man by her side that is supportive and driven to make the world a better place,” her bio reads. “She is looking for the superman to her superwoman and says that, together, she hopes that she and Matt can fall in love and change the world.”

She’s new to social media

Though many contestants have gone on “The Bachelor” looking for social media fame instead of love, Young just joined Instagram in April 2020.

“A little late to the Instagram party but, I made it 🤷🏽‍♀️,” she captioned her first Instagram post.
