Comedian Bill Burr made waves while presenting a series of Grammy awards on Sunday during the pre-telecast ceremony.
The controversial comic joked that “feminists are like going nuts” about him presenting the award for Best Tropical Latin Album.
“Why is this cis-white male doing all this Latino stuff,” he said, apparently imitating his potential future critics.
Earlier, Burr, 52, also made a remark about the length of a piano performance at the ceremony, saying, “Was I the only one that wanted to kill himself during that piano solo?”
When presenting Best Regional Mexican Music Award, Burr mispronounced winner Natalia Lafourcade’s name and apologized.
“I can’t say this name. And the Grammy goes to Natalia Lafourcade. I will accept on behalf of her. If I butchered her name, I’m sorry. Natalia you won. That’s it,” he said.
Burr’s name soon began trending on Twitter, with some users apparently furious over his comments — and others furiously defending him.
“WHO LET BILL BURR HOST HES SO EMBARRASSING??” one person wrote, calling Burr’s quip about the piano solo “just unnecessarily disrespectful.”
Another person, however, called Burr the “GOAT” or “greatest of all time” for his joke about “feminists,” saying, “Rare comedian that will joke about stuff like this.”

“The problem is it wasnt funny lmao,” someone replied.
“I feel like there’s a section of comedians that don’t even try to do humor they just want to upset groups of people so a certain group of people can go ‘lololol triggered.’ Really high level ideas,” another user commented.
Burr presented several awards during the awards’ Premiere Ceremony, held hours before the main show airs at 8 p.m.
