With just three weeks left before the start of the academic year, it’s time for Quebec Education Minister Jean-François Roberge to provide details of the province’s back-to-school plans, the opposition Liberals charged on Monday.

Liberal education critic Marwah Rizqy said Roberge needs to speak up, and she wants him to do so at a meeting this week of all the opposition parties.

Rizqy wants to know how a student afflicted with COVID-19 will be treated. Will masks be obligatory in high school? What support will be given to those students who need to catch up on classes?

The opposition’s call is the latest in a series of demands for clear and precise directives on how the education system will function in the context of COVID-19.

To date, Roberge has not provided any updates to his unveiling in June of a plan to establish “bubbles” of no more than six students in schools.

Since then, however, the situation has evolved, Rizqy said.
