Nemanja Matic ‘considering’ leaving Man Utd for former club

Nemanja Matic has opened the door to a Manchester United exit insisting he would “think about” a Benfica return.
The midfielder’s contract doesn’t expire until June 2023, but he is far from a regular at Old Trafford.
Matic first rose to prominence at Benfica having moved to the Portuguese capital from Chelsea in 2011.
His performances saw the Blues return to sign him three years later, but he retains a fondness for the Lisbon club.
The Serbian insists he has no plans to quit United, but would consider a return to the Estadio Da Luz if Benfica felt a deal was possible.

“I haven’t thought about ending my career yet, let’s see. Benfica stayed in my heart and let’s see what brings us to the future,” Matic told Sport TV via O Jogo.
“If Benfica believes it is possible for me to return, then let’s think about it.
“Now, I’m very happy at Manchester United, I don’t plan to leave yet but you never know what will happen. And if I ever return to Portugal, the only team I want to play for is Benfica”.
Jorge Jesus was the man in charge at Benfica when he was at the club.

The 66-year-old left to coach their rivals Sporting Lisbon but has since returned for a second spell this season.
Matic has hailed his influence and claims he would like to take him out for dinner should he get the opportunity.
