Liverpool defender misses Fulham match with calf issue

Liverpool #Liverpool

Liverpool are currently down 0-1 to relegation battling Fulham at Anfield.

With Ben Davies not making the matchday squad, Jurgen Klopp was forced to call upon young Rhys Williams to start alongside Nat Phillips.

James Pearce, a Liverpool journalist for the Athletic UK, has said that Ben Davies missed with an injury.

“Ben Davies has had a calf issue, not 100% sure if he was fit for selection today,” James Pearce said on a discussion with supporters.

“Klopp expected him to be on Friday. I think it’s fair to say he’s still adjusting to surroundings.”

Ben Davies joined Liverpool from Preston North End in January for an initial fee of £500,000 plus £1.1 million in performance related add-ons.

However, since joining the Merseyside club, Ben Davies has yet to feature for Jurgen Klopp.

James Pearce ended his fan chat by saying, “Brought in as cover and down the pecking order so far.”

With injuries piling up and fellow January transfer arrival Ozan Kabak also being injured, Jurgen Klopp may have to call on the former Preston North End defender sooner than he would like to.

Liverpool will look to get back on track and find a goal in the second half to salvage today’s Premier League match with Fulham.
