Arsenal player ratings vs Burnley: Xhaka costly error, Saka has rare off day, Aubameyang returning to old self
Saka #Saka
Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley as Chris Wood cancelled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s opener.
Here’s how Mikel Arteta’s side rated at Turf Moor…
Bernd Leno 6
Was partly at fault for the Burnley goal, but the German responded in the second-half. Made a few great saves to keep the game level.
Calum Chambers 6
Given this was his first Premier League start since December 2019, Chambers did well. Showed he could be a handy option at right-back going forward.
Pablo Mari 7
A decent game from the Spaniard, who slotted in well alongside David Luiz. Coped well with the physical threat that Burnley offered.
David Luiz 7
Has basically established himself as the first-choice centre-back under Arteta. Solid today and didn’t really put a foot wrong.
Kieran Tierney 6
Bombed up and down as always. Now looks fully fit after having some injury problems earlier on this year.
Thomas Partey 6
Did well for the Arsenal goal and started the attack with a lovely bit of composure. Not at his best yet, though, as he works his way back to full fitness.
Granit Xhaka 4
The midfielder won’t want to see the Burnley goal again, as his pass was intercepted by Chris Wood to score. Had been looking good until then.
Willian 6
Picked up another assist by setting up Aubameyang, which will be good for his confidence. Looked better, but still not quite at his best.
Martin Odegaard 6
A few nice moments and touches, but a quiet game on the whole. Taken off with around 30 minutes to go so Alexandre Lacazette could come on.
Bukayo Saka 5
A very rare off-day for the teenager and – given his fine form – he should be excused. Missed a good chance in first-half when played in by Aubameyang.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 7
Another goal for the Arsenal captain, who has been starting to look back to his old self in recent weeks. Missed a good chance to make it 2-0, though, before the Burnley equaliser.
Substitutes
Alexandre Lacazette (Odegaard 63’) 5
Off the bench and asked to play as a No10. Couldn’t really get into the game much, though.
Nicolas Pepe (Willian 69’) 5
Missed two glorious chances after coming off the bench that would have won the game for Arsenal.
Dani Ceballos (Partey 81’) N/A
Unused: Ryan, Gabriel, Holding, Bellerin, Elneny, Martinelli.
