‘Pokémon Legends Arceus’ Announced, Brings ‘Breath of the Wild’-Style Exploration in 2022
Sinnoh #Sinnoh
Alongside the Diamond and Pearl remakes, The Pokémon Company announced a brand new Sinnoh game titled Pokémon Legends Arceus for the Nintendo Switch.
Unlike the remakes, this game will be set during a time much earlier than Diamond and Pearl, as players will be tasked with creating the very first Sinnoh Pokedex. The art style is more akin to what we saw in the Sword and Shield games.
Before we dive in any further, check out the trailer for Pokémon Legends Arceus below.
Explore the Sinnoh region like never before in ‘Pokemon Legends Arceus’ The Pokemon Company
The first thing you will notice is how you can move freely in the overworld of Pokémon Legends Arceus. If you enjoyed the Wild Areas of the Gen 8 games and The Crown Tundra/Isle of Armor DLC, then you’ll likely love how your trainer can move in 3D.
New to this game is that, while there are Pokémon in the overworld, you can actually catch them without battling. Trainers can roll and hide in the grass to get close enough to the Pokémon.
That doesn’t mean you can’t battle wild Pokémon. In fact, trainers will enter a battle immediately where they’ll have to choose attacks.
Rowlet, Cyndaquil and Oshawott are the starter Pokémon of this game. Makes sense considering Sinnoh hasn’t been established yet and the normal Starter Pokémon, Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup, haven’t been established as the region’s first Pokémon for trainers.
According to the official site, these three Pokémon arrived with a Pokémon Professor, who encountered them on research excursions to various regions.
You’ll set out on your own adventure once you’ve acquired one of these Starter Pokémon. However, the Sinnoh region in this game is much different from the ones trainers are used to. Towns haven’t been created so the terrain is vastly different and it seems that Pokémon that normally aren’t in the Sinnoh region call it home.
Pokémon Legends Arceus is set to release for Nintendo Switch in early 2022.
