Warning: spoilers ahead for episode seven of WandaVision.

There have been many theories flying around concerning the true identity of WandaVision character Agnes (Kathryn Hahn), the most prominent one being that she is actually Marvel comics character Agatha Harkness in disguise.

And in the latest episode of the Disney Plus TV series, that theory was officially confirmed by Agnes herself, shortly after she veered Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) away from making further contact with Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris).

After luring Wanda into the basement of her home, under the pretence that the superhero’s twin sons Billy (Julian Hilliard) and Tommy (Jett Klyne) are down there, Agnes tells her: ‘You didn’t think you were the only magical girl in town, did you? The name’s Agatha Harkness. Lovely to finally meet you dear.’

She then appears to bewitch Wanda with purple magic, before an Agatha-themed title sequence plays, which features the lyrics: ‘Who’s been messing up everything? It’s been Agatha all along. Who’s been pulling every evil string? It’s been Agatha all along.’

Ever since the beginning of the show, while it was apparent that Wanda was somewhat in control of the false reality she had created in the neighbourhood of Westview, there was also an undercurrent of unease – a feeling that something else was going on that not even Wanda was aware of.

In the comic books, Agatha Harkness is a powerful witch who becomes a mentor to Scarlet Witch.

There have been several clues pointing towards the idea of Agnes being Agatha, the most obvious being – which some people might have found too obvious – the fact that their names are so similar.

But some fans have spotted other signs, including the fact that when Jimmy Woo (Randall Park), Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) and Monica were identifying the residents of Westview, there was no ID attached to her picture.

What’s more, she even dressed up as a witch for the Halloween Spooktacular. In the immortal words of Avril Lavigne, could it be any more obvious?

Elsewhere in the latest episode of WandaVision, viewers finally catch the first glimpse of Monica developing superpowers, having travelled through Wanda’s Hex so many times that the cells of her body have been rewritten.

In the comic books, Monica has several different superhero aliases that she has taken on in the past, with many people believing that the latest episode means she will soon adopt the persona of Photon, who has the ability to transform her body into energy after being exposed to extra-dimensional energy.

Now that she has developed her powers, and is within the bounds of Wanda’s anomaly while still in control of her own mind, hopefully she can help Wanda escape Agatha’s grasp.

Plus, as the mid-credits scene shows, Monica has now bumped into Pietro Maximoff (Evan Peters)… although we’re still waiting to discover if he is the Pietro portrayed by Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Quicksilver from the X-Men film franchise or a different character altogether.

In another development, Vision (Paul Bettany) has made the acquaintance of Dr Darcy, who catches him up on what happened before his existence in Westview, including the fact that he was killed – twice – in Avengers: Infinity War during the battle against Thanos (Josh Brolin).

Agatha Harkness, Monica developing powers, Vision all caught up, a mid-credits scene with Pietro… WandaVision is truly spoiling us.

WandaVision is available to watch on Disney Plus with new episodes released on Fridays.
