The Chief Medical Officer of Health says we all have to revert back to the way things were in April and assume that COVID could be anywhere with the first confirmation of community spread in the province.
Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says three clusters in the metro area cannot be linked to specific source points in the region.
Eleven new confirmed cases were reported in the province yesterday, all in the Eastern Health region.
Three of the cases are related to a previous case, while the rest are under investigation.
The positive cases come as a result of a huge increase in COVID testing over the weekend after word started to circulate about at least two cases linked to Mount Pearl Senior High.
Dr. Fitzgerald says there are is a “significant volume of contacts” related to the school and through various sports teams throughout the region. Contact tracing is continuing, and she is urging patience as Eastern Health goes through the process.
