Tom Brady’s the GOAT but the Super Bowl MVP should’ve gone to so many other players

Tom Brady is now a seven-time Super Bowl champ after leading the Bucs to a win over Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs on Sunday night in Tampa.

Brady now has more Super Bowl wins than any NFL franchise, which is insane.

Brady is now most definitely the GOAT, duh.

But he didn’t deserve to be named the MVP of Super Bowl 55, even though he threw three touchdown passes in the 31-9 win.

And I’d have to think he’d agree with me when I say who should have won that award – anyone and everyone who played defense for Tampa in their dominant win.

Because what that Bucs’ defense, led by defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, did Sunday night was incredible.

Mahomes and the Chiefs are one of the most explosive teams we’ve seen in quite some time. But on Sunday night they were only able to score nine points and didn’t score a touchdown.

Not. One. Touchdown.

Mahomes entered the game 25-1 in his last 26 games as a starter. He left the game battered and bruised by a defense that had him continually running around while trying to pull off insane plays because all of the easy ones were taken away.

Yes, the Chiefs had injury woes on their offensive line but I don’t think it would have mattered if they were completely healthy because the Bucs’ defense has been on fire lately and they capped off their playoff run with an insanely dominant performance against the greatest QB in the league.

First they beat Drew Brees. Then they beat Aaron Rodgers. And then they took down Mahomes. It’s an incredible run for a defense that was often overshadowed by their own QB because, well, he’s the GOAT.

But without this defense chances are pretty good that Brady wouldn’t have won his seventh ring. And he sure wouldn’t have been a in position to win his fifth Super Bowl MVP award.

The easy thing for MVP voters to do is put a check next to the name of the winning QB and be on their way. Instead, they should have just written in the Chiefs D and allowed every player who played a down to stand up and accept an award that they all deserved.

Brady is going to get a lot of the attention for this win. And rightfully so. It is his SEVENTH Super Bowl victory.

But what Tampa’s defense did Sunday night shouldn’t be taken lightly.

They were the real MVP.
