Gronk joins Rice with impressive Super Bowl TD record
Rob Gronkowski made some history during Super Bowl LV on Sunday night, as he caught his second touchdown pass of the game during the second quarter. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end joined 49ers legend Jerry Rice as the only two players to haul in multiple touchdown catches in multiple Super Bowls.
Rice had three touchdowns in the 49ers’ Super Bowl XXIV win over the Denver Broncos, and also caught a trio of touchdowns in a 49-26 win over the then-San Diego Chargers in Super Bowl XXIX.
Gronkowski first hauled in multiple touchdowns in a Super Bowl back in 2018, when he amassed nine catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns in the New England Patriots’ 41-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII.

Sunday is Gronkowski’s fifth Super Bowl appearance, while Rice appeared in four over his decorated NFL career.
Gronk might have matched Rice’s touchdown record, but it’ll be pretty difficult to catch Rice’s league-record 48 points scored in Super Bowls.
