Toronto police say a man is dead after a shooting in Scarborough late Saturday.

Officers arrived and found an unresponsive man with gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.

He has since been identified as 21-year-old Abdulrahman Patel of Toronto.

Officers said a firearm was recovered and added that “a number of people and vehicles of interest” were seen fleeing the area.

Man injured in separate shooting: police

Shortly after that incident, police said on Twitter that a man in his 30s walked into a hospital in the city’s east end with gunshot wounds.

He suffered life-threatening injuries and police initially said it wasn’t known if it was connected to the shooting at Gateforth Drive and Sheppard Avenue.

However, in an update Sunday afternoon, police told Global News the incidents are being treated as “separate occurrences.”
