His role on ‘Jane the Virgin’ was heart-stopping, but what is Brett Dier up to these days?

Although ‘Jane the Virgin’ ended a while ago, fans haven’t yet gotten over the show’s epic twists and turns. In truth, the fact that the narrator himself billed it as a telenovela should have suggested fans would be divided over the ending, but that didn’t stop the controversy from happening.

The biggest issue fans had with the series? The fact that Jane didn’t end up with Michael Cordero Jr.

While unexpected character growth led to Petra stealing the show in many episodes, the love story — and tragedy — between Jane and Michael was seriously the series’ highlight. Spoiler alert: though Jane starts out deeply in love with Michael, his faked death and subsequent amnesia (years later, of course) throw a wrench in things.

Anyway, the fact that fans are still stalking Michael himself, Brett Dier, on Instagram to tell him he should have ended up with Jane speaks volumes about the impact the show had. Of course, it also hints at just how spectacular fans found Dier’s performance.

After such a great run on ‘Jane the Virgin,’ what could Brett possibly be up to now? Well, fans may be equal parts thrilled and annoyed that real-life Brett ended up with Michael’s on-screen baby mama Charlie in the end.

Yep — Brett and Haley Lu Richardson, who played Charlie in two episodes of ‘Jane the Virgin, plus starred in ‘Five Feet Apart’ with Cole Sprouse — are engaged. They’ve been dating since 2012, and they got engaged in 2018 when Haley proposed to Brett, noted Refinery29.

It wasn’t a huge, dramatic proposal, but Haley related that the pair were having pizza at a mall food court one day when it hit her that Brett was her soul mate. She said as much, and the two found makeshift rings in the form of twigs that later inspired her actual engagement ring.

But apart from having the most adorable engagement story ever, Brett’s got plenty of other things going on in his life. His next big role after ‘Jane’ was in ‘Schooled,’ in which he portrayed a teacher named C.B. Up next? A film entitled ‘After Yang,’ that’s currently in post-production.

And after that, Brett is slated to appear in ‘Fresh,’ which is billed as a “social thriller.” Fans will have to wait a bit longer to find out what it’s all about, of course. But they can be sure Dier will share plenty of hints on his Instagram, just like he did with ‘Jane the Virgin.’ If only fans would stop harassing him about leaving Jane for Charlie!
