Newcastle United have taken their share of criticism in recent weeks but earned praise following their victory over Everton.
Newcastle beat Everton 2-0 at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Saturday, thanks to a second-half brace from Callum Wilson.
It ended a run of 11 matches without a win in all competitions – and six successive defeats – for Steve Bruce’s side.
After the game, former Everton midfielder Leon Osman paid tribute to the visitors.
““All credit to Newcastle, they showed all that desire and determination that we showed they hadn’t done in the previous few weeks,” Osman told BT Sport.

“That didn’t look like a side that had only got two points out of their previous 27, or had only scored two goals of late.
“They looked adventurous, energetic and they were creating chances and thoroughly deserved their win today.”
Osman added: “When you’re on a run like that, you need to somehow put it behind you. They came here today, they were positive, energetic and you can see how they celebrated on the field, there were hugs, it was jubilation.
“They deserved to celebrate because they were terrific today, Newcastle.
“Sometimes you think that footballers don’t feel results and professionals don’t buy into what they’re part of but they do.
“They feel everything, they feel a victory and defeats really hurt them.
Recent fallout over the long-running takeover saga at Newcastle United hasn’t just been the talk of Tyneside – it was the talk of the footballing world.
Now, Steve Bruce must recollect his team and push forward without the change of ownership and new backing.
However, the twists and turns aren’t over, with current owner Mike Ashley ‘considering all options’ after the Premier League rejected the £300m takeover.

“Newcastle have had a very difficult run of late and now, with that result, they’ll hope it’s the beginning of bringing themselves out.”
It was a good start to life at Newcastle for newly-appointed assistant head coach Graeme Jones.
Jones was prominent on the touchline in his first match since being added to Bruce’s backroom staff.
Asked if Jones could have made an impact on the team in such a short space of time, Osman replied: “He’s not been there long. Certainly set pieces, you can have an immediate impact on, but you can also have an impact on ideas, attitude and have an impact on going out there, impress and be positive.
“I do think we saw that today.”
