Could Packers QB Aaron Rodgers join other big-name quarterbacks on the move this offseason?

What a searing hot stove offseason 2021 is shaping up to be for the NFL. Sunday, that stove burst into flames when, following the Packers’ loss to the Buccaneers in the NFC Championship, Aaron Rodgers began talking like he may not be back in Green Bay next season.

Rodgers made his feelings fairly known about his coach’s decision to kick a field goal down eight points late. A move that ended up costing the Packers at a chance to win the game because the Buccaneers then used of the rest of the clock to kneel it down for the 31-26 win.

At 36 years of age, Rodgers is not nearly done. Especially when you look at Tom Brady, who just beat his Packers, having one of his best seasons at age 43.

Rodgers is showing no signs of slowing down and thus would make for an intriguing trade target for one of the league’s teams that need a QB, but perhaps don’t have a pick high enough to get one of the draft’s top prospects.

The one-time Super Bowl-winning future Hall of Famer will have company if he’s looking to be moved in a trade. Deshaun Watson has made it clear his desire for the Texans to trade him. And the Lions and long-time starter Matt Stafford are mutually parting ways and the team has been exploring trades.

All of these guys are proven NFL starters and thus figure to yield packages that include at least one first-round pick. In the case of Watson, it would figure to be multiple first-round picks.

The list of teams that could be looking to make a trade for one of these quarterbacks is extensive including the 49ers, Bears, Broncos, Colts, Cowboys, Dolphins, Eagles, Jets, Raiders, Rams, Panthers, Saints, and Washington.

That, of course, could mean a few other quarterbacks on those rosters would then either be involved in those trades or be cut or placed on the trade block themselves including Jimmy Garopolo, Drew Lock, Tua Tagovailoa, Carson Wentz, Sam Darnold, Derek Carr, Jared Goff, Teddy Bridgewater, and Alex Smith. And you can toss in Dak Prescott who is set to become a free agent should the Cowboys not re-sign him.

I can’t recall a more fascinating offseason at the quarterback position ever.
