Twitter roasts Packers’ Kevin King after brutal first half vs. Buccaneers in NFC Championship Game

The first half of the NFC Championship Game was certainly one to forget for Green Bay Packers cornerback Kevin King.

The Packers corner was involved–in one way or another–on all three Tampa Bay Buccaneers touchdowns in the first half of Sunday’s game. It was Kevin King’s worst nightmare. The reaction from social media was just what you would expect.

The scoring started off with a Tom Brady touchdown pass to Mike Evans, and Kevin King mistimed the jump badly- leading to a 7-0 Tampa Bay lead early on at Lambeau Field.

Ok, brush it off and get better. However, the next score for the Bucs against the Packers was a Leonard Fournette 20-yard touchdown scamper, and Kevin King was right at the goal line as Lenny broke through to give the lead back to the Bucs.

Call it bad luck, or being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but it kept getting worse for Kevin King.

After an Aaron Rodgers interception with less than a minute left in the half, Tom Brady delivered a 39-yard touchdown bomb to Scotty Miller.

Guess who was covering- or supposed to be covering Miller? Kevin King.

Kevin King got beat and Miller caught the ball in the endzone to give Tampa Bay a 21-10 lead to head into the half- much to the dismay of Packers fans.

The defensive scheme to end the half — with King in the middle of a botched coverage — was confusing to many, and former head coach Tony Dungy weighed in on Twitter.

Hopefully King can have a better half, but it’s safe to say the reaction on Twitter was not in his favor.

The Packers and King trail Tom Brady and the Buccaneers, 28-17, midway through the third quarter. They have a limited margin for error, particularly in their secondary, which has to tighten up the screws and give Aaron Rodgers a chance to mount a comeback.
