COVID-19 has spread to six employees at a Stoney Creek Fortinos, the store’s parent company said.

In an email late Friday, Loblaw told The Spectator that three additional employees tested positive at the Fortinos location at 21 Upper Centennial Pkwy. S. in upper Stoney Creek. One of those employees was in the store in the past week, Loblaw said.

The company’s site was reporting “multiple team members” positive for the virus Friday afternoon, after three staff members were confirmed to have COVID-19 on Thursday. Those employees last worked on Jan. 6, Jan. 8 and Jan. 9.

Meanwhile, three workers at an Ancaster Fortinos tested positive Saturday. The employees last worked at the 54 Wilson St. W. location on Jan. 2, Jan. 6 and Jan. 13.

Several workers at two Hamilton No Frills have tested positive for the virus, according to Loblaw.

The company was notified Friday that two employees at Franco’s No Frills at 640 Queenston Rd. in Hamilton had been “positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19.” Their last day at the store was Jan. 10.

The new cases come just a little over two weeks after an outbreak that infected at least 14 staff members at the east-end grocery store was declared over.

One staff member at Kenny and Cindy’s No Frills at 930 Upper Paradise Rd. tested positive Saturday. The staff’s last day at work was Jan. 3.

A worker at the Fiesta Mall Fortinos at 102 Hwy. 8 in Stoney Creek has also tested positive for COVID-19. Their last shift was on Jan. 13. Two other employees at the store previously tested positive earlier this month.

According to Loblaw, when a worker tests positive they “work closely with public health and follow their guidance to ensure proper notification of close contacts and required cleaning and sanitization in our stores.”

It’s unclear if any other staff members were affected by the cases or if any were recommended to self-isolate as a precaution. The database does not specify which part of the store the employee worked in.

Outbreak declared at police station

An outbreak was declared at the central Hamilton police station Saturday.

Three staff members are reported to have tested positive for COVID-19. It is unclear when they last worked at the King William Street station.
