Cleveland records 162 new coronavirus cases, no new deaths: Sunday update

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The city of Cleveland announced Sunday there have been 162 new coronavirus cases and no new deaths among city residents in the past 24 hours.

The 162 cases bring Cleveland’s case total to 22,124, according to a post on Cleveland City Hall’s Facebook page.

About 6% of those cases required hospitalization, according to the last update of the Cleveland Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 dashboard.

The gender breakdown, among cases where it was confirmed, is split 54% women and 46% men. Forty-three percent of those infected are African-American. About 26% are white.

The new cases were comprised of males and females who ages range from less than 1 year old through their 90s, the city said.

The Cleveland Department of Public Health will work to identify any people who were in close contact with the newly confirmed patients to determine who now would require testing or monitoring for symptoms of COVID-19.

Coronavirus cases in Ohio have risen to at least 826,754 with 10,200 deaths, according to statistics released Sunday by the Ohio Department of Health. Figures also tend to lag on weekends due to reporting delays.

In the U.S., there are more than 95 million confirmed cases of coronavirus and more than 396,000 COVID-19 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins researchers.
