Viola senior teams thrash Timbo in league play

Viola’s Lindsey Browning and Sami McCandlis combined for 40 points, and the Lady Longhorns got back on the winning track with a 54-20 whipping of the Timbo Lady Tigers on Tuesday night at the Tigerdome.

Browning scored 20, and McCandlis totaled 20 points, seven rebounds and seven assists for the Lady Longhorns, who led 19-5 after one quarter and 33-9 at halftime.

Preslee Dillinger notched eight points, A.J. McCandlis added five points and five assists, Macey Perryman tallied five points and six rebounds, Addison Shaddon scored four, and Kennedy Renfro chipped in three for Viola (11-1, 3-0), which was coming off its first loss of the season at Farmington.

The Longhorns remained unbeaten on the season with an 82-33 whipping of the Tigers behind their usual balanced scoring attack.

Blaine Marberry scored 15, Mason Luna added 14, Auston Luna and Bryson Luna notched 11 each, Gage Harris netted 10, Landon Luna tallied eight, Bryson Love scored five, Hunter Winstead totaled four, and Andrew Cantway and Gabe Baird chipped in two each for the Longhorns (11-0, 3-0).

Viola earned its first win of the season in the junior girls’ game, 44-29.

Audrey Newberry scored 14, Haylee Crotts and Kenzie Hall totaled 12 each, and Kailey Hallmark, Rylee White and Marissa Hutson pitched in two each for the Junior Lady Longhorns.
