Row of Stoney Creek townhouses destroyed in overnight blaze

Nobody was injured but damage will be in the millions of dollars after a row of townhouses went up in smoke overnight into Monday morning in Stoney Creek.

Hamilton firefighters remain on scene following the multiple unit blaze where a row of at least 11 townhouses were destroyed.

Emergency crews were called to Edenrock Drive in Stoney Creek, an area just north of Winona Road and Barton Street just after 2:30 a.m.

Firefighters reported heavy fire in most of the units. Flames and smoke were seen from a distance.

Morning commuters will want to avoid the area as firefighters remain at the scene dealing with hot spots.

A large power outage was reported for the area of South Service Road to Highway 8 and from Lewis Road to Fifty Road affecting 161 customers.

The cause was due to this blaze. Just before 7 a.m. Alectra reported that the outage was completely restored.
