The Twitter drama around Allison Pearson started with the journalist’s response to a tweet directed at her. Garnering reactions from political commentators and fellow journalists alike, the tweets in question have left Pearson at the centre of a Twitter storm.

Before delving into the ongoing Twitter drama, let’s first explore who Allison Pearson is. Well recognised for her work in media, Allison is a journalist and columnist for a number of British publications.

After beginning her career with the Financial Times, she went on to work at The Independent, where she became an assistant to Blake Morrison before going on to become a TV critic.

Pearson started to work as a columnist for the Evening Standard and The Daily Telegraph and, until 2010, wrote a regular column for the Daily Mail. She then went back to The Daily Telegraph, first as a columnist and, from 2015, a chief interviewer.

If you feel you recognise the name from somewhere however, it may be from Allison Pearson’s career as an author. Her first novel, I Don’t Know How She Does It, became a UK bestseller before being made into a film with Pierce Brosnan and Sarah-Jessica Parker.

In 2008, The Guardian reported that Pearson was sued by Miramax for the non-delivery of a second novel, I Think I Love You. She had allegedly accepted an advance for it in 2003, but had missed several deadlines and stopped informing the studio about the book’s whereabouts altogether in 2006. The book was due to be published in 2005, but ended up being released in 2010.

The Twitter drama surrounding Allison Pearson started after a scientist named Dave Bradshaw responded to a tweet from her in a now-deleted thread.

In response, Allison posted a series of tweets threatening lawsuits, alleging libel and tweeting details about Bradshaw’s employer and workplace. Although the scientist apologised and deleted the tweet, Pearson didn’t relent, to the disapproval of many Twitter users.
