‘College GameDay’ picks Alabama-Notre Dame, Clemson-Ohio State and more
Notre Dame #NotreDame
In a New Year’s Day edition of ESPN’s College GameDay, it appears Kirk Herbstreit, David Pollack, Desmond Howard and Lee Corso are all on the same page.
When picking the four college football bowl games, including the CFP semifinal games, set for Friday, it was a clean sweep on the selections except for one game.
The Peach Bowl, featuring Georgia and Cincinnati, had the guys offering different opinions.
Herbstreit and Howard went with the Bearcats.
Pollack, on the other hand, said while the game will be really close, “JT Daniels is the difference at quarterback.” Pollack’s Georgia pick was backed by Corso, who said Georgia would cover the 7-point spread.
Citrus Bowl: Northwestern-Auburn
Meanwhile, no one picked Auburn to beat Northwestern in the Citrus Bowl.
Herbstreit, citing coaching changes for Auburn and hard-nose defense by Northwestern, is going with the Big Ten school.
Pollack believes it will be a competitive game, but “I don’t know with Auburn with the turmoil and the coaching staff.”
Howard called the change at Auburn chaos.”
“Northwestern was one of the few good stories of 2020,” Corso said. “They win with defense. Take the under at 43.”
Rose Bowl: Alabama-Notre Dame
“It’ll be a competitive game,” Herbstreit said. “Notre Dame is going to battle and keep it a lot closer than people think. At the end of the day, Alabama’s too good.”
Howard, Pollack and Corso agreed.
Sugar Bowl: Ohio State Clemson
Desmond: Clemson
Pollack: Clemson
Corso: Clemson
Herbstreit didn’t pick because he is calling the game.
