KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 29): Logger and timber products manufacturer Minho (M) Bhd announced that five of its employees have been confirmed as Covid-19 positive, after the company conducted a mass screening exercise on Dec 26.

The screening was done on 394 employees, consisting of local and foreign workers in its subsidiary Syarikat Minho Kilning Sdn Bhd.

“Three local workers were diagnosed Covid-19 positive and [are] currently undergoing strict home quarantine. Two foreign workers were also diagnosed Covid-19 positive and currently isolated at the designated quarantine centre.

“The management awaits further directives from KKM (Ministry of Health),” Minho said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

Minho said the mass screening included Quality Controllers (QCs), Contractors, Sub-Contractors, Site Staffs, Supervisors and Tenants. Following the detected Covid-19 cases, the company said immediate sanitisation has been carried out internally, and close contract tracing has also been conducted.

Minho assured that the capacity loss as a result of the disruption is still estimated to be no more than 1% of the total annual output volume. Other production facilities at different locations remained operating as per normal, it said.

“Notwithstanding the above, Minho’s operation continues to be carried out in strict adherence to Covid-19 SOP,” Minho added.

Shares of Minho today slipped 0.5 sen or 1.45% to close at 34 sen per share, for a market capitalisation of RM115.78 million.
