Tottenham: Mourinho says Son deserved FIFA The Best win

Tottenham surrendered a 1-0 lead to draw with Wolves in the Black Country as Romain Saiss headed in a late equaliser just a few minutes from time. Spurs were happy to sit back and soak up the Wolves attack but they rarely threatened Rui Patricio’s goal.

Tanguy Ndombele impressed for the visitors and gave them the lead inside a minute when he rifled in from the edge of the box.

Hugo Lloris was called into action on several occasions and he made a handful of smart saves to keep the hosts at bay.

Wolves finally found a way through late in the day when Saiss headed home to earn Wolves a share of the points.

Here’s how the Spurs players rated…

Alert to make a good low stop to deny Podence in the first half. Very solid display from the Tottenham captain between the sticks and he was on hand to deny Fabio Silva right at the death.

Ben Davies – 6

Slotted into the back three with ease. Gave Spurs nice balance and passed to Ndombele for the opening goal. Did lose Saiss for the equaliser though just after making a fine block.

Davinson Sanchez – 7

Much better from the Colombian, who has had a tough time this season. No nonsense defending and that’s all his manager could ask for against a team who love to cross the ball.

Eric Dier – 7

Went down with an ankle problem in the second half. Left frustrated that the physio entered the fray, forcing him to leave the field of play.

Sergio Reguilon – 7

The left-wing back found himself in the box on more than one occasion in the first half, heading wide before stinging the palms of Rui Patricio.

Matt Doherty – 6

Enjoyed the battle with his former team-mates. Definitely looks more at home playing at wing-back.

Harry Winks – 5

Gave Spurs more control in midfield in the first half, something they’ve lacked at times of late. Failed to make his mark though and show why he should be a regular started.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 6

Steely performance in the middle of midfield.

Started the game in fine fashion by giving Tottenham the lead inside a minute with a low pile-driver from range.

It clearly done his confidence the world of good and there was one moment of real quality when he brushed off several challenges to lead a counter-attack, before playing in Reguilon.

Harry Kane – 6

Quiet afternoon by his standards. As usual, Spurs were happy to play on the break but he was starved of service due to the change of formation. Had a late shout for a penalty but rightly turned down.

Son Heung-min – 5

Naturally keen to take up the wide areas but was very isolated at times when receiving the ball in the opposition half.
