Over a year since his firing as manager of Tottenham Hotspur, it looks like Mauricio Pochettino finally has a new job. Numerous sources including Fabrizio Romano are reporting that Pochettino looks set to take over for Thomas Tuchel as manager of Paris St. Germain, a club where Poch once played as a defender.

Ever since Pochettino was sacked I always said that I hoped he landed at PSG. Not only is it far enough away from Spurs that we don’t have to worry about playing against him much in the future, but also it’s a club that has always been near and dear to his heart. On numerous occasions Poch said that PSG was one of his dream jobs and one that he’d want to manage one day.

In Paris, he’ll take over a club with oodles of resources in a top league and will have the freedom to create a new “five year plan.” There’s more pressure at PSG than there is at a club like Spurs, obviously, but there’s already an incredible amount of talent. I look forward to seeing what he can do with the likes of Mbappe and Neymar, and seeing if he can get him to buy into his methods.

Of course, there’s always the slight concern of whether a Pochettino-led PSG will decide to make a play for some of Poch’s former players at Tottenham. I mean, Dele is right there. But that’s a hypothetical problem for another time. Gotta say, I’m much more enthused at Poch doing his thing across the English Channel and not, say, at Manchester United. Thanks for doing just enough, Ole.
