In the days after Chasity Nunez and her daughter Zella were shot and killed on a street in Worcester, two GoFundMe pages have been set up to support their family.

Chasity Nunez, 27, and her daughter Zella, 11, were shot in a parked SUV in the area of Englewood Avenue and 1 Lisbon St. around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Worcester police said previously. They were both pronounced dead after they were brought to the hospital.

One suspect was arrested, charged and held without bail while another remains at large and should be considered armed and dangerous, according to police.

One of the GoFundMe pages was set up on Wednesday, March 6, by an MIT Health organizer and with a $5,000 goal. Chasity Nunez served as a patient safety and clinical quality program coordinator at MIT Health since July 2023, MIT spokesperson Kimberly Allen told MassLive on Thursday.

“We share with great sadness that we have lost a dear member of our MIT Health community, Chasity Nunez. In this moment of grief, our hearts are with her family and others closest to her,” the GoFundMe read.

The other GoFundMe was set up by Quadasha O’Leary, of Worcester, to send to beneficiary Ben Nunez. With a $10,000 goal, this fundraiser has so far raised $760 from 10 donations as of Friday.

“Chasity, a devoted mother and valued member of the Connecticut National Guard, epitomized dedication and love for her family, friends, and community,” O’Leary wrote in the fundraiser’s description. “Zella, a bright sixth-grade student cherished by many, brought joy to all who knew her. With a personality and loving demeanor that matched her mother’s.”

The loss of the mother and daughter, along with the “incomprehensible nature of their passing,” has left the Nunez family “reeling with grief,” the fundraiser said. Friends of the family “humbly reach out” to seek “financial contributions or sharing our cause, every gesture of support, no matter how small, is profoundly valued,” O’Leary wrote.

“Your generosity will alleviate the burden of funeral expenses for the family,” her description said. “Any surplus funds will be directed towards supporting the financial needs of Chasity’s two-year-old daughter, left behind in the wake of this tragedy. While we cannot undo the pain of their loss, together, we can help the Nunez family honor the memory of Chasity and Zella as they begin the arduous journey of rebuilding their shattered lives.”
