2 Michigan officers charged in traffic stop assault of semi-truck driver

MACOMB COUNTY, MI – Two Michigan police officers are facing charges related to the assault of a semi-truck driver who they allegedly pulled over, attacked and arrested while in uniform and outside of their jurisdiction, officials said.
Warren Police officers Dammeon Player, 50, and Carlos Taylor, 28, are accused of carrying out the assault in Center Line during July 2023, FOX 2 Detroit reports.
Player is charged with felony assault, a four-year felony; and public official willful failure to uphold the law, a one-year misdemeanor, the report said. Taylor is charged with public official willful failure to uphold the law; and assault and battery, a 93-day misdemeanor.
Both defendants were released on a $5,000 personal bond with conditions not to have contact with the victim, the report said.
