Canadiens claim Colin White from Pittsburgh; place Brandon Gignac on waivers

Forward Brandon Gignac was placed on waivers for the purpose of a loan to the Laval Rocket to make way for White on the Canadiens’ 23-man roster.

Gignac, 26, played seven games in his first stint with Montreal and scored his first career NHL goal on Feb. 13 against the Anaheim Ducks at the Bell Centre. Should he clear waivers, the Quebec-born skater will rejoin the Club’s AHL affiliate, where he’s posted 42 points (14G, 28A) in 43 games in 2023-24.

The Canadiens visit the Penguins on Thursday at PPG Paints Arena.
