Yesterday, Sony announced that The Beatles are getting four movie biopics, one each for John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

Sam Mendes, who directed Daniel Craig’s James Bond movies Skyfall and Spectre, is helming all four films from each band member’s perspective.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker said: “I’m honoured to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies

The Beatles biopics, which are the first time the estates of the group have granted full life story and music rights to scripted film, will all be released in 2027.

Now Sir Ringo himself has finally spoken out on the projects on his Instagram.

The 83-year-old drummer posted a picture of The Beatles lying on a yellow surface dressed in black and looking up at the camera in a cross shape.

Sir Ringo enthused: “Have you heard the news? Oh boy. We all support the Sam Mendes movie project. Yes, indeed. peace and love.”

Meanwhile, Sir Paul hasn’t commented but simply put a link in his Stories to the press release on the official Beatles website.
