Warmer conditions on Wednesday with a slight shower chance preceding a short cooldown

Slight #Slight

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Once again the weather world is quiet and mild across the state.

The latest satellite and radar data.   (KCRG)

After a low in the middle 30s, our highs on Wednesday climb to near 60 across eastern Iowa. This will be the warmest day this week. A weak system moves through Wednesday night into early Thursday with the outside threat of a scattered shower.

5 Day Temperatures(KCRG)

Slightly cooler 40s are forecast by Friday but a quick rebound heads our way next week. Sunshine on Sunday pushes highs back near 60 with upper 60s possible on Monday. Cannot rule out a couple of 70s for afternoon highs.

Our weather pattern evolves early next week to one that favors the ability for warm and increasingly moist air to make its way north in the central United States, including into eastern Iowa. Temperatures will turn well above normal, at least 25 to 30 degrees above those levels, on Monday and Tuesday. Highs in mid-60s could make a run at being the warmest of the year so far, with lows in the upper 30s to mid-40s keeping the warm temperatures going into the night.

A couple of storm systems are likely to affect the area during this time. Access to moisture brings a decent chance of precipitation from them. Showers and storms are possible initially from late Monday into Tuesday. The second of two storm systems brings more rain as a possibility by Tuesday night into Wednesday, with some snow potentially mixing in if enough cold air can get involved as the storm exits. While it’s still several days away, this variety of potential conditions bears watching and we’ll be keeping you updated over the next several days.
