Splatoon 3 has wrapped up the Best Day of the Weekend Splatfest, and the winner is Team Friday. Inklings and Octolings fought all weekend in Splatoon 3 to push their teams to the winner position, but only one can take home the crown.

Splatoon 3 Splatfests are often heated, not only due to differing opinions, but because of the game’s mechanics. Some players argue that the three-team system is more unbalanced than the Splatfests in the prior games, which only had two teams each. In any case, the results have been unevenly split between the members of idol group Deep Cut, with Shiver leading the pack in wins significantly over her two companions Frye and Big Man.

With Team Friday taking home the win this time around, the winner list is even more uneven. Initially, Frye’s team took the lead in Conch Shells earned prior to the start of the Splatfest, during the week leading up to it after players acquire their Splatfest shirts. Prior Splatfests have seen early leads get squashed later on, and this continues the trend, with Shiver and Team Friday bringing it home.

Deep Cut Team Leader Wins (Western Territories)

While the weekend Splatfest has come to an end, things are only just starting to heat up for Splatoon 3 players. The arrival of the Side Order DLC, wave 2 of the game’s expansion pass, is right around the corner. The single player campaign will see fans exploring a washed-out and abandoned Inkopolis and the tower above it. In the most recent teaser, Agent 8 from Splatoon 2 is seen being accompanied by Pearl of Off the Hook in the form of a drone. At this time, her counterpart Marina’s whereabouts are unknown, which has served as a tantalizing mystery keeping fans engaged as they’ve waited for the release.

Beyond that, Splatoon 3’s future is somewhat of a mystery. During its full reveal, it was said that Splatoon 3 would receive two years of post-launch support, and that milestone is rapidly approaching. It’s possible that support for the title will be extended, or the team may move on to another project, like a new Animal Crossing game. A Splatoon 4 may eventually appear on the rumored Nintendo Switch 2, but for now, many fans are still excited for what’s yet to come in the current game.
