Against All Odds, Kansas City Chiefs Win Another Super Bowl

Some people are saying “The Kansas City Chiefs can’t keep getting away with this!”

Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and co. secured another Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers this weekend, despite a tumultuous regular season.

It certainly wasn’t an easy win for the Chiefs in a game that mirrored their 11-6 regular season campaign. They struggled to get things going in the first half, trailing 10-3 before Usher took the stage for his instant classic halftime performance. In the third quarter, they held the 49ers to zero points while putting up 10 of their own and punched their ticket to overtime with two Harrison Butker field goals in the fourth quarter.

The extra frame yielded even more drama. Neither team could find their way to the endzone halfway through overtime until the 49ers finally hit a field goal with a little over seven minutes on the clock. As time wound down, Mahomes drove the Chiefs into goal-line territory and threw a three-yard touchdown to Mecole Hardman with three seconds remaining.

With this victory, the Kansas City Chiefs secured their third Super Bowl win in five years and became the first team to be back-to-back champions since the New England Patriots in 2003-2004. Patrick Mahomes was named Super Bowl MVP for the third time in his career, adding more prestige to his resume in just his sixth year of being an NFL starter.

“Really just the whole game, just our whole entire season, it was the defense keeping us in there, and the offense making plays when it counted,” he said after the game. “Just know that the Kansas City Chiefs are never underdogs.”

This was an especially bold statement considering the fact they were deemed the underdogs in their playoff matchups against the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, and San Francisco 49ers. However, given this victory and their dominance since 2020, he isn’t exactly wrong.
